 Agents Need Good Etiquette Too!

Yesterday I discussed proper buyer etiquette when looking at homes.  If you're a seller, you also need to read that and be aware that these things do happen.  Unfortunately there is also bad behavior on the part of agents that you should prepare yourself for.

Recently, Kim got a phone call at 8:00pm on a Friday night. It was an agent who was out showing homes.  The agent had printed out the listings she wanted to show her clients that night, but she didn’t actually make any appointments in advance.

So there the agent was with her clients in her car parked in the driveway of one of our listings wanting to go in IMMEDIATELY.

Now with this particular home, the client had requested we give him a two hour notice before the home could be shown- which is not uncommon.  And that information was published in the MLS for showing agents to see.

But despite that, this agent felt it was ok to ignore the seller's requests and demand to just walk in without any notice at all (and the agent was quite upset when Kim refused her entry after making her set in the driveway for 10 minutes while Kim attempted to call the seller to get permission).

Although I harp to my sellers that they need to be flexible to the needs of potential buyers, at 8:00pm on a Friday night we had no way of knowing if our young single male client (whom couldn’t be reached) had his house ready to show.
