Here is a list of places to enjoy snow sledding throughout the metropolitan area:

ST. LOUIS CITY:

- FOREST PARK'S ART HILL: Located in Forest Park at the Art Museum, you won't want to miss this classic St. Louis tradition. Parking in Art Museum parking lot. Day and night sled riding. Sometimes a barrel with firewood is provided. There are hay bails at the end of the slope to keep sledders from going into the lake (not a problem).

- FOREST PARK'S SUICIDE HILL: Suicide Hill is located on Lagoon Drive, a quarter of a mile east of Skinker Blvd., on the fairway of the public golf course in Forest Park, next to the Cascade Waterfall. If you watch the 2nd half of this video here, then you can see it being sledded on.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY:

- AFFTON: Mathilda Park, The park is on Mathilda Road which is located off Gravois Road in Affton. Federhofer's Bakery is on the corner of Gravois and Mathilda at 9005 Gravois Rd.. Turn onto Mathilda and go about 1/5th of a mile. The park entrance will be on the left.

- BALLWIN: Vlassis Park, This sledding hill is in Vlassis Park near the Ballwin Police Station. The police station is at 300 Park Drive in Ballwin.

- CLAYTON: Shaw Park, Sledding hill at the corner of Brentwood & Forsyth.

- ELLISVILLE: Bluebird Park, off of Keifer Creek Road just south of Manchester road.

- FERGUSON: Superior Park at Robert & Superior Streets. Sledding hill is not visible from the street. To access the hill, walk down the access road towards the pavilion, and the hill will be on your rights side

- FLORISSANT: Sledding hill across from the Florissant Civic Center (#1 Civic Center Dr.)

- FLORISSANT: St. Ferdinand Park (Hwy. 67/N. Lindbergh and St. Ferdinand Rd.)

- JENNINGS: Fairview Elementary School property, which is located at 7047 Emma Ave. The sledding hill is near the track. Click here for a satellite location of the sledding hill. You can park along one of the side streets along College Ave. that has a view of the fenced in track hill. There is an opening in the fence with steps down to access the sledding hill.

- MANCHESTER: Carmen Trails Elementary School parking lot, 555 Weidman Road

- MARYLAND HEIGHTS: Sledding hills behind Pattonville Heights Middle School, 195 Fee Fee Road, a block north of Dorsett Rd..

- S. COUNTY: Suson Park, 6073 Wells Rd. It is the first hill on the left hand side. Cant miss it on a snowy day, always sled riders there.

- WEBSTER GROVES: Deer Creek Park at the east end of N. Forest Ave. (Take Summit Ave. north, then right on N. Forest Ave.). N. Forest Ave. will dead end at a loop turn around (where people can park) by an open field, the sledding hill in on the right.

ST CHARLES COUNTY:

- BLANCHETTE PARK: Sled riding hill at Blanchette Park's Bum Hollow (1900 W. Randloph St.) at the rear of the park

- MCNAIR PARK: The sledding hill is called McNair Hill and it is located at McNair Park off of Droste Road near Zumbehl Road. It is located next to baseball diamond #5

- CIVIC PARK IN O'FALLON: Civic Park has a designated sledding hill at the back of the park near the pool. To get to Civic Park from I-70, take Exit 217 at Highways K/M. Drive north on Main Street for about ½ mile. After crossing the railroad tracks, make an immediate left onto Civic Park Drive. Civic Park is about 2 blocks down, on the right. Park in the area closest to the pool and walk the walking path to the sledding hill.

- DEFIANCE: Take 40 west to Weldon Springs 94 south exit. Go South on 94 for about 8 miles until you arrive in downtown defiance. Look for the post office and the sledding hill is there

JEFFERSON COUNTY:

- FOX HIGH SCHOOL: This sledding hill is located on the left side of the Fox High School gym in the softball/baseball field. Fox High School is off of Jeffco Blvd

- CRYSTAL LAKE PARK in Crystal City: Go to where the basketball courts are right behind the pond (if you drive past the public swimming pool, then you will see them). Coming from Herculaneum, take 61/67 south, make a left on 11th St., then make a left on Virginia Ave., then make a left on Park Dr. Take it until in loops around on Parkview Dr. and you'll see the courts on the right.

If you know of a terrific seldding hill that is not on my list, please let me know.

Be safe and enjoy!
