My Belated Introduction and Happy Birthday to this Blog

Today is the one year anniversary of when I started this blog for real estate agents.  Have to admit, I really thought I would have given up by now!

Got a nice comment last week from another agent in California thanking me for a post I did a few months back.  In talking to her I realized that when I started the blog I never really posted a lot about who I am, and my other blog (for customers) was started back in 2004 so that profile is probably a bit dated.

So let me formally introduce myself...

My name is Darin Cameron, but everyone calls me Sid.  It's a nickname I've had since high school.

I am a broker-salesperson licensed in the state of Missouri that works for a RE/MAX franchise.  I am on a team that consists of Kimberly- my wife, business partner and best friend- a buyer's agent named Randee with 18 years experience, and then a part-time (unlicensed) inside sales person who returns call capture calls and a Virtual Assistant who handles Transaction Coordination.

We are all specialized.  I handle lead generation, marketing and operations, photography and our team's overall technology.  Kimberly manages day to day activities and sales.

We get a significant amount of our business from the internet (in 2006 it was 40 of our 58 transactions).  And thanks to the internet, our specialization is now relocation with buyer's in general making up over 85% of our business last year (we are trying to level that out a bit though).  Our goal is to continue to build on the team model, grow our listing business to match our buyer's business and continue to evolve and create our relocation services.

On the personal side, I'm originally a farm boy from small town Iowa (if you've ever seen the movie "Bridges of Madison County-" that's my hometown!)

I spent 15 years in technology sales prior to joining my wife in Real Estate.  This included working for Hewlett-Packard, Apple's Educational Sales Channel, Okidata and a host of small technology companies.  It was a traveling sales job that relocated me to St Louis in 1998.

My career in real estate started because of my wife.  In May 2004, Kimberly was a builder sales rep who decided to go on her own.  She needed marketing help, so I created a custom website for her (not because I felt custom was better, but because the Craig Proctor website I really wanted was $2,000 over her budget!)

By January 2005 the website was generating leads, so I quit my job to work on it full-time.  For the first year I lived and breathed our website(s) spending my days writing html, but over the past year I've scaled it back as Craigslist leads have became the primary source of our business (I LOVE Craigslist).

If you have questions, email me through the contact section of the website.  I'd love to hear from you.
